FM-1 / EXPERIMENTAL DEBUG BUILD
NSX39 for FM-1
Install firmware, edit lyric memories, and adjust your instrument.
1. Generate with your own dump
Open your NSX39 SPI-flash dump. Its vocal data and original lyric banks are extracted and compressed locally. Your file stays in this browser.

2. Listen before installing
This preview runs the same native vocal engine as the firmware. Preview preferences stay in this browser. Use Device settings to change the FM-1.

Articulation and ADSR
These controls change the live preview. On the FM-1, knobs 1–4 set A/D/S/R; the buttons below use the same mappings.
Vibrato uses the original curves, and key release uses recorded endings. Automatic pitch/dynamics and some transition timing remain native approximations. ADSR is an added FM-1 envelope.
Computer keys A W S E D F T G Y H U J K O L P ; ' play chromatic notes. Each new key press advances one syllable; each lyric loops. On the FM-1, ALGORITHM selects Selectable syllable → DoReMi → Lyrics 00–15. In Selectable syllable, SELECT chooses a syllable. DoReMi follows note pitch. In Lyrics, turn SELECT left to restart; right is reserved. PRESETS switches hiragana, katakana and romaji.
3. Install on an FM-1
The debug screen shows the last played and upcoming syllables, MIDI note, articulation settings and output waveform.
FM-1_947 adds storage backup and initialization in Device settings. Autosave runs once after changes settle, and saved memories/settings survive firmware updates. Press both OCT buttons briefly to open or close settings; knob 1 selects an item and knob 2 changes it. The default octave is OCT0.
Generate firmware, check the box above, then connect and install using Chrome or Edge with SysEx MIDI access.
Update and recovery instructions
Use a reliable USB data cable and stable power. Close MIDI software and other installer tabs. Do not disconnect the FM-1, close this page, or let the computer sleep during installation.
The open-source Felucca loader checks the board layout, chip key and package CRC before erasing. It writes the application region, preserves the flash head, verifies written sectors, and supports resuming an interrupted update. These checks cannot guarantee recovery from every hardware or power failure.
If interrupted, regenerate the same package, reconnect and use the same Install button; it first checks for a waiting update loader. Do not flash a different image to “try it.” If the unit cannot enumerate, see FM-1-transporter. On this firmware, holding both OCT buttons for five seconds enters UBOOT.
You can return to the official firmware using M-VAVE’s updater and your own original FM-1 package. The NSX39 firmware-update SysEx commands are ignored; only the FM-1 updater can replace firmware.
Lyric memories
Read and save lyric memories 00–15 over USB-MIDI SysEx. No firmware dump or reflashing is needed. Select them with ALGORITHM after Selectable syllable and DoReMi.
Use hiragana, katakana or romaji; 1–63 syllables. Use #0–#127 for exact syllable IDs.
Connect an FM-1 running FM-1_943 or newer (Lyrics 00 requires FM-1_944). Edits are drafts until saved to the device.
Device settings
Read the current settings, change values, then save to the FM-1 over SysEx.
Storage repair
If saving reports another storage format, back it up before initializing. Initialization replaces only the 8 KiB lyric/settings storage area and keeps the current device parameters and lyrics. Your browser drafts are retained.
Requires FM-1_947 or newer. Release all keys and turn hold off first.
Requires FM-1_943 or newer and SysEx MIDI access.
